Spring is great time to be in the Smoky Mountains! Events are happening in the area, attractions are opening once again for the season, and the flowers and trees will be in bloom. We are sharing 6 things to do in Gatlinburg this spring to make the most of your vacation.

1. Fishing

When you come to the Smoky Mountains a great way to get out and enjoy the fresh mountain air is by fishing! There are places throughout Gatlinburg where trout are stocked and fishing is allowed. However, a permit is required, and day passes are available when you arrive in the city. You can catch like rainbow and brown trout in our rivers.This is a great bonding experience for family and friends. Moreover, it can be a new skill/hobby you can try out!

Dollywood is named after country music singer Dolly Parton. Her joyful, upbeat music is played all throughout the park providing a pleasant atmosphere. The theme park is home to over 40 rides and and 15 shows! You’ll find hair raising roller coasters and gentle, relaxing rides. Dollywood has fun bluegrass shows, comedy shows, and more to see! There’s something here for everyone to enjoy. The park opens in March this spring.

3. Hiking

If you stay in Gatlinburg you will be on the doorstep of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park! This is the most visited national park in the US, and for good reason! Our national park is free to enter, and inside you will find inspiring mountain views, beautiful woodlands, and maybe even some furry creatures running around. There is over 900 miles worth of hiking trails in the park! Some popular destinations include Alum Cave, Rainbow Falls, and Ramsey Cascades Trail.

4. Cades Cove

Cades Cove is the most popular destination inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is an 11 mile loop that can be navigated by car, bike, or horseback. Along it you will come across rustic cabins, old churches, and view other primitive structures. Cades Cove is also a great place to see native wildlife like deer, turkey, and bears.

Spring in the Smokies is a beautiful time of year. Trees will be budding with new leaves, and spring flowers will be popping up. Even if you do not enjoy hiking, we recommend taking a drive through the the park as one of the best things to do in Gatlinburg this spring.You will get to see some brilliant colors from the blooming flowers like bright yellows, purples, and reds.

6. The Village Shops

The Village Shops is like a tiny town inside of Gatlinburg. The shops have a European theme and are picture perfect. There are 27 unique shops to look through, so this makes the perfect place to find a unique souvenir or gift. If you happen to have a sweet tooth while shopping.
